The Cossack Art Awards is a prestigious annual exhibition which is held in Cossack. Vasse Art Awards

9th – 16th April 2016
17 Kaloorup Rd, Vasse WA
Award: Under 25’s Award (sponsored by Amelia Parks)
People’s Choice Award (sponsored by the Seaman family)

The Vasse Art Awards had some extremely talented artists exhibiting their work, my personal favourite was a very cool fisheye perspective painting of cows by Kerry Sibly. I can’t speak highly enough of the organisers who were extremely accommodating and lovely, and did an excellent job of hosting the event. I am very glad I entered, in spite of the five hour round trip each time I went! The icing on the cake was winning both the Under 25’s Award, and also the People’s Choice Award. This was particularly humbling, having my work appreciated by the panel of judges and also by members of the public. I strongly recommend artists consider entering the next Vasse Awards in 2018.

Minnawarra Art Awards

2nd – 17th April 2016
Armadale District Hall, Jull Street, Armadale WA

The Armadale Art awards were extremely well organised and ran very smoothly, thanks in no small part to the quick and efficient paperless online booking system, making things much easier for both artists and organisers. This event was different to others I have attended as it encompassed a wide variety of media, including photography, prints and digital work.

City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibitions and Awards

10th – 17th March 2016
Lyal Richardson Hall, The Agonis, 2232 Albany Highway, Gosnells

The City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibitions was a well run event with a variety of talented artists ranging from all years, with the youngest being 13. The Awards night was very well presented and accommodating. I found that there was a wide range of talent in the pastels and watercolour section. My entry in the 2016 display consisted of a diptych piece ‘My Ball’, consisting of two adorable dogs originally photographed by the photographer Alex Cearns. The coloured tennis ball links both pieces, and marks the first time I have attempted to use colour.
